Perry Edwin Thompson, 80, of Naches died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at home.

He was born July 11, 1924 in Tekoe. His family moved to the Yakima Valley, where he received his education at Outlook. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. On Sept. 18, 1948 he married Evelyn Roehl in Outlook. Together they made their home in Sunnyside for 31 years. He was employed by the Yakima County Highway Department until he was disabled in 1966. They moved to their mountain home on Nile Road in 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Thompson; five daughters, Judy and Danny Maguire, Carol Gardner, Debbie and Jeff Morrow, Denise and Todd Schrader, all of Yakima, and Donna and Preston Lyon of Renton; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene and Nita Thompson of Yakima; and two sisters, Alta Tade of Sunnyside and Alice and Don Kirlin of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Viewing will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Memorial Garden with full military honors provided by VFW Post 3482. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Nile Community Church. Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.
