Sunnyside Key Club to freeze out for the needy

Sunnyside High School Key Club members will be bundling up in their parkas and long woollies for the club's first 24-hour freeze-out to be held this coming weekend.

The 30-member strong high school service club will be camping out at the Sunnyside Centennial Square gazebo beginning Friday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, according to Courtney Cohan, club president.

"We will be collecting non- perishable food and warm clothing to be donated to the local food banks," Cohan said, explaining that all community residents are being urged to drop off such donations during the freeze-out.

In addition, the teens will be collecting cash donations for other club projects during the 24-hour camp-out. Cohan said the teens are seeking cash sponsorships for staying out in the cold.

Persons wishing to make donations may call club adult advisor Ryan Maxwell at Sunnyside High School, 837-2601, or drop off food and clothing donations to the freezing teens at the gazebo.
