Earlier this month, Brown and Cole officials announced they would be closing the pharmacy at the Sunnyside Food Pavilion store.
Sunnyside Food Pavilion Manager David Diaz didn't have too much information available about the history of the pharmacy and why it was closing, having been at his position for only three weeks.
Diaz did say, though, that Brown and Cole officials are planning to visit the possibility of reopening the pharmacy after the beginning of the year.
"They realized it (a pharmacy) can work in this community," said Diaz. "They have taken a step back and will do some more research. The company knows it will be a positive for it to come back."
In the meantime, Diaz will be looking at several vendors who are interested in filling the empty space where the pharmacy used to be.
"We need to screen that very well," said Diaz.
Diaz said he will be working with Brown and Cole officials on the issue of possibly reopening the pharmacy.
Former Food Pavilion pharmacy customers had their prescriptions transferred to the pharmacy of the customers' choice. Brown and Cole officials also offered pharmacy customers a coupon good for 10,000 bonus green points on their next purchase of $10 or more with their Rewards Card.
