‘Polar Express’ party on tap Dec. 4

YAKIMA - Yakima County First Book, part of a national non-profit organization that provides free books to children to enjoy at home, is inviting families to attend a "Polar Express" party the first Saturday of December.

The party will be held on the main floor level of Glenwood Square, located at 5110 Tieton Drive in Yakima. There will be games, crafts, refreshments and a reading of "The Polar Express." Each child who attends will also receive a free book.

The Saturday, Dec. 4, party will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

Nationally acclaimed story-teller scheduled to appear in Sunnyside

George Nelsen of South Dakota, a nationally acclaimed story-teller, will entertain people of all ages at the Sunnyside public library Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Sunnyside Librarian Kay Saunders said local residents, from kids to adults, are invited to listen to Nelsen spin his tales, which he calls "Adventures with Grandpa."

Two of his more well known stories that he relates to the delight of his audiences include "Trick or Treating at Thanksgiving" and "The Gift of Love."

Saunders said there will be no charge to attend next Tuesday's 6 p.m. story-telling session.
