BICKLETON - The Mabton Lady Vikings left Bickleton in the dust Thursday night, racing past the Pirates in a three-game match.
The Mabton team was able to outpace Bickleton by scores of 25-9, 25-7 and 25-11.
"They looked good," Mabton Coach Olivia Mendoza said of her team. "We were able to get some things going."
Mendoza said Thursday night her Mabton team seemed to be communicating better on the court, adding that she saw a lot of things come together.
"We were able to run a little offense," Mendoza said.
She added that it was a nice way to come back from Tuesday's loss against LaSalle.
"We were able to come back and play our game," Mendoza said.
Helping the Lady Vikings push past Bickleton were junior Alida Mendoza with 5 kills and 6 aces, senior Michelle Tellez with 2 kills and 5 aces, sophomore Daniela Aguilar with 3 kills and 1 block, and junior Mayra Diaz with 2 kills, 3 aces and 10 assists.
Mendoza said Aguilar had a good night against Bickleton. She explained that the Lady Vikings' regular middle hitter is currently out with an injury and Aguilar did a good job of filling in the gap.
"I was very pleased with her," Mendoza said.
Mendoza said she was also very happy with the effort her setters put in against the Lady Pirates.
"They worked hard," she said. "They were everywhere on the court."
Mendoza said overall she thought her team looked pretty good against Bickleton.
"I think they did a very nice job," she said.
The Lady Vikings (5-2) will take to the court again Saturday at the White Swan tournament.
