Pull the plug, but don’t ban artists

I am writing in response to the article in the Sept. 8 issue, entitled "Tejano music promoters apologize to Grandview Council."

The artists were warned that cursing would not be allowed. I do agree that a few of the acts did get out of hand, but there were some quality ones, too. Not opening the stage to young artists in the future because of this, the first time this has happened if I am correct, doesn't sound fair to me. Why not pull the plug on their act when they broke the rule. The next time this happens, it would be a good idea to regulate it more closely.

Losing the chance to perform in the Lower Valley in a concert like this one because a few groups messed up is very sad. I know one artist who performed and he has performed at events like this more than once. He keeps it clean and provides good entertainment. To cut him out and anyone else that would be a good, clean show because some groups messed up should be reconsidered. Kick them off the stage the first instant they mess up. But please, do not cut out a form of entertainment that the younger generation is into.

Add color

to your town

The citizens of Sunnyside again have the opportunity to add color to their town.

We are having a fall planting at the Fifth Street guardrail behind Safeway. We want to invite the citizens to bring a perennial that will add summer or late fall color to the area, plants such as lilies, lavender, black eyed Susan's, etc. Join us at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 16.

Also as something to think about during the winter months ahead, next spring why not share a geranium, salvia or petunia to put some bright colored annuals at that site if you are unable to plant with us this Saturday.

We can make this area even brighter with your help!

State info sought

My name is Luke Hufford and I am in fifth grade. I attend Brethren Heritage School in Modesto, Calif. We are doing state reports this year in our history class. I have chosen to do my report on the state of Washington.

If you should happen to read in your local newspaper, I would greatly appreciate receiving any information or items regarding your state. You could send pictures, tourist attraction information, trivia about your state, or anything that would cause me to be more familiar with your state.

Please send any such items to me, c/o Brethren Heritage School, 3549 Dakota Ave., Modesto, Ca. 95358. I will appreciate any help you can give me.
