The second annual Yakima Valley Home Ownership Fair will be held Sunday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Joseph's Church gymnasium in Sunnyside.
The free, one-stop home ownership fair is geared towards first-time home buyers in the Yakima Valley. Both English and Spanish-speaking representatives from public agencies, private businesses and non-profit organizations will be present at the fair.
As a part of the event, home ownership workshops will be held on such topics as "What do I need to do to buy a home," "Am I ready to get a loan," and "ABCs of buying a home," according to event organizer Mario Villanueva.
Those attending the event will learn about the home-buying process, and the services provided by realtors, lending institutions and home inspectors. There will also be classes on credit issues, banking relationships, special financing and down payment assistance programs.
Those interested in the workshops are encourage to pre-register. Pre-registrants will receive a free pre-purchase counseling session, a $50 coupon for an upcoming home buyer seminar presented by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Yakima Valley and additional raffle tickets for more chances to win door prizes.
