Four suffer injuries in Sunnyside crash

A 31-year-old woman from Beverly and her three children were injured this past Saturday as the result of a two-car collision just outside the Sunnyside city limits.

The crash occurred at the Sheller Road and SR-241 intersection at about 11:05 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to Washington State Patrol troopers, Leonor P. Sosa of Beverly was eastbound on Sheller Road in a 1988 Chevrolet Corsica. The WSP said Sosa failed to yield the right of way to a 1993 Nissan Quest that was southbound on the state highway. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Sosa and three children in her Corsica, ranging in age from 9 to 15, all were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital to receive medical attention.

The driver of the Nissan Quest, 29-year-old Marisela Najar of Quincy, was not injured.

WSP troopers said Najar's vehicle sustained about $3,000 in damages. Sosa's Chevy Corsica was totaled. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

All of those involved in the crash were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision.
