Conservation official keynote speaker Nov. 8

MOSES LAKE - USDA Farm Service Agency Deputy Adminstrator John A. Johnson will be the opening speaker at the Conservation Reserve Program forum scheduled for Monday, Nov. 8, at the Moses Lake Convention Center.

Starting at 10 a.m., the forum is the first of several Conservation Reserve Program meetings to discuss the environmental and economic issues of the program. The forum is free to the public.

Johnson will address the issues concerning full Conservation Reserve Program enrollment by offering early re-enrollments and contract extensions. He will also speak about management of expiring acreage, improving the design and delivery for natural-resource conservation benefits and USDA infrastructure to support potential enrollment of a large volume of developing contracts.

Those who want to register to attend the Nov. 8 forum are asked to contact Gretchen Borck at 1-800-598-6890.
