YAKIMA - Outnumbered, the Sunnyside girls swim team lost to the Selah Vikings 107-58 Tuesday afternoon.
According to Sunnyside Coach Scott Southard, several Sunnyside swimmers had first place finishes at the meet, including one of the girls relay teams.
Sunnyside swimmer Katie Knee had a clocking of 2:21.94 in the 200-freestyle event, earning her first place honors. Sunnyside's Rachelle Durfey placed second in the 200 with a time of 2:37.87.
In the 50-freestyle, Sunnyside's Chelsea Durfey was first with a time of 25.78, according to Southard. Second and third place honors were awarded to Selah swimmers Whitney Jennerjohn, 30.94, and Pam Simon, 31.15. Fourth place honors went to Sunnyside's Megan Razey who finish in a time of 33.91. Sunnyside's Brittany Bonilla placed sixth in the 50 with a time of 36.48.
In the 100-freestyle, Sunnyside swimmers swept the first three placings, according to Southard. C. Durfey brought home first place honors in the 100 with a time of 58.09. Knee finished second in a time of 1:01.40 and third place was awarded to R. Durfey, who had a time of 1:08.70.
Sunnyside 200-free relay swimmers C. Durfey, Amanda Myers, R. Durfey and Knee placed first with a time of 1:56.06. Selah relay teams fill up the rest of the placings.
In the 200-medley relay, Sunnyside's Knee, R. Durfey, Myers and C. Durfey had a second place finish in a time of 2:14.65, coming in after Selah's Bree Sutton, Pam Simon, Erin Rice and Allison Filcher. The Selah team finished first in a time of 2:07.88.
Sunnyside also placed second in the 400-free relay, according to Southard. Sunnyside swimmers Bailey Morris, Renee Saenz, Bonilla and Razey clocked a second place finish time of 5:36.18. They came in behind Selah swimmer Megan Gordy, Sutton, Jennerjohn and Simon, who had a time of 4:41.60.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Razey placed second for Sunnyside with a clocking of 1:33.00. She touched after Selah's Simon, who had a finish time of 1:26.28.
In the 200-individual medley, Myers placed third for Sunnyside with a clocking of 3:01.56. Morris placed fifth with a time of 3:02.15 and sixth place went to Saenz, who clocked a time of 3:59.40. First place honors went to Selah swimmer Filcher, who clocked a 2:39.38 finish.
Filcher also placed first in the 500-free with a clocking of 6:45.34. Myers placed fourth for Sunnyside in the race, clocking a time of 7:04.28.
In the 100-back, Sunnyside swimmers rounded out the top six placings, according to Southard.
Morris placed fourth with a time of 1:33.57. Saenz was fifth with a clocking of 1:52.22 and sixth place went to Bonilla, who had a time of 1:55.83. First place honors in the event went to Selah's Sutton, who clocked a state qualifying time of 1:02.88.
Sunnyside's last meet of the season will be held this Saturday in Pullman.
