Jack-o-lanterns are orange, and so will be one of the balls each team uses on Sunday, Oct. 31, in the first ever "Great Pumpkin Shootout."
Black Rock Creek Golf Course PGA club pro Jeff Bender is encouraging golfers to sign up now for the fun Halloween tournament.
"It's a great tournament to end the season with," Bender said.
The format, he explained, will pit three-person teams against one another. On each of the 18 holes, two of the team members will play a scramble format and the other will play an orange ball for an individual score. The team members will rotate the orange ball from member to member on a hole-by-hole basis.
"It's going to be a lot of fun," Bender promised.
As of right now, he said approximately 20 teams are signed up to compete. There is still room for more golfers, though. Bender said golfers can sign up individually for the tournament and will be placed on a team, or they can form their own teams and compete.
The cost to play is $25, which includes the price of green fees, lunch, a Great Pumpkin Shootout hat and possible prize winnings.
Bender added that all the teams will tee off that morning at 10 a.m.
