Bickleton girls end year with loss

UNION GAP - The LaSalle Lightning earned a three-game sweep of the Bickleton High School girls volleyball team last Friday evening.

The defeat sustained by the Lady Pirates came in their last match of the 2004 season. Bickleton closed out Greater Columbia 'B' League play with no wins in conference play.

Despite going winless in league play, Bickleton Coach Erin Palmer said she is proud of her girls.

"We only had seven girls on this year's team," Palmer said. "It was a building year for us.

"We're very young, and with only seven girls on the team, most nights it's pretty hard to match up against the larger schools in our league," she added.

In last Friday's 25-6, 25-10, 25-15 loss to the Lightning, Siggie Jarvis recorded two ace serves for Bickleton, and teammate Corryn Raschko claimed one ace from the service line.
