Pedro D. Ortiz, 86, of Granger died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Toppenish Nursing Home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Eagle Pass, Texas, the son of Rosalio and Paula Ortiz. He received his education in Texas. Since 1952 he had made his home in Granger. He worked as a maintenance man at Hanford and for the Granger Migrant Center until his retirement in 1983.

He is survived by four children, Paula Estrada, Jose Salinas (Sharon Zecchino) and Jesse Salinas and wife, Juanita, all of Granger, and Amy Gallo of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Adefina Salinas-Ortiz; four sisters; and three brothers.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Viewing will be Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger.

Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.
