YAKIMA - Tuesday morning, Yakima County commissioners set a date for a public hearing to consider changing the amount of taxes levied against social card rooms located in unincorporated Yakima County.
According to Yakima County officials, card room operations are currently required to pay taxes based on the amount of gross receipts multiplied by 20 percent. Commissioners are considering lowering that percentage to 10 percent.
Jennifer Adams with Yakima County explained that someone who is in the process of trying to set up a card room in unincorporated Yakima County requested that commissioners look at amending the tax rate.
Commissioners set the public hearing date for Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 10:45 a.m. in room B33 of the Yakima County Courthouse.
