Council approves chamber's request for Sunshine Days

The Sunnyside City Council had no problem this past Monday night approving a request from the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce for the annual Sunshine Days celebration.

This year marks the 38th annual Sunshine Days. Sunshine Days will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Council approved the needed street closures for the chamber's annual Sunshine Days parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18. The parade will start at Sunnyside High School, traveling west on Edison and culminating at Central Park.

The Yakima Valley Community Band is also scheduled to perform at Centennial Square at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

There will also be a carnival as part of Sunshine Days. Paradise Amusements will open its four-day run Thursday, Sept. 16, closing Sunday, Sept. 19. The carnival will be located on Fifth Street between Edison Avenue and Grant.
