LYLE - The Sunnyside Christian High School's girls volleyball team walked past Lyle this past Friday night to claim a 4-1 victory in Greater Columbia B league action.
The Lady Knights beat Lyle with games scores of 19-25, 25-9, 27-25 and 25-14.
Steady and consistent serving aided the Lady Knights in their first league win, according to Coach Andrea Dobson.
"We finally played up to our potential," she said. "We played good defense and picked up just about everything," she said.
Junior Chelsey Jones hit everything that came her way, landing 20 kills. She also hadtwo blocks and dove for six digs. Jones added six service aces to the scoreboard.
"Chelsey had a superb night," said Dobson.
Dobson also gave credit to Katie Schneider for coming off the bench to assist her team with six aces. The junior also threw herself into eight digs.
Tori Van Wingerden proved her worth on the Lady Knights team by dishing up 25 assists.
"She was all over the court," Dobson said. "Tori made things happen for us."
Van Wingerden also contributed four service aces for the Sunnyside Christian girls. Jessica Schrotenboer sacrificed herself for 10 digs and landed three kills, while contributing two service aces.
Also adding to their team's Friday night win was Heather Van Wingerden, with two blocks and six kills, and Abby Berkompas, who dove for five digs.
"I'm very proud of all of the girls. Everyone really stepped up," Dobson said.
The Lady Knights (1-1,1-3) will face LaSalle High School at home tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
