Autumn leaf fest opens today
LEAVENWORTH - The 41st annual Autumn Leaf Festival opens
today (Friday) in Leavenworth's Bavarian Village.
The three-day festival, sponsored by the Washington State
Autumn Leaf Festival Association, will include music and dancers at
Leavenworth's park gazebo, as well as an "art in the park" event that
will feature arts and crafts on display along Front Street. A grand parade will
be held in downtown Leavenworth at noon on Saturday.
As part of the festivities, the Chumstick Grange will host
an autumn leaf craft bazaar, and the town's Friends of the Libary organization
will sponsor a used book sale. There will also be a heritage exhibit Friday and
Saturday at the Upper Valley Museum, located in the former Haus Lorelei.
Friday's activities will also include coffeehouse
entertainment at the Chumstick Grange hall and music at the gazebo.
Saturday, the Lions Club will host an autumn leaf breakfast
at Lions Club Park. Other Saturday activities will include a drill team
competition at the park gazebo, food booths along Eighth Street, pumpkin
carving at Front Street Park, inflatable games and a climbing wall at Front
Street Park, a kids parade along Front Street and a spaghetti dinner
fund-raiser at the Leavenworth Senior Center. Saturday's activities will also
feature a street dance in the evening at the park gazebo, and a Beethoven
celebration concert at Sleeping Lady Retreat.
