Child struck in Friday afternoon hit-and-run

The Washington State Patrol is looking for a 1990s pickup truck and its driver that left the scene after reportedly hitting 11-year-old Angel Garcia Friday afternoon as he attempted to cross Van Belle Road on State Route 241.

According to the State Patrol, the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. last Friday as Garcia was walking northbound on State Route 241. He was attempting to cross Van Belle, when he was struck by a white, early 1990s pickup.

Garcia was transported by private vehicle from the scene to Sunnyside Community Hospital.

The accident is currently under investigation.
