YAKIMA - Tuesday night's trip to Riverside Christian High School turned out to be a downer for the Sunnyside Christian High School girls volleyball team. Coming off a rousing win over Trout Lake last Friday, the Lady Knights failed to add another victory to their win column.
"We had a tough night," said Coach Andrea Dobson of the 3-0 loss to Riverside.
"We gave a way a lot of points," Dobson said.
Riverside claimed all three sets in Tuesday night's match by scores of 25-11, 25-8 and 25-11.
Dobson said communication was a problem for the Lady Knights as the girls only collected 13 kills on the nights, landing only two service aces.
Courtney Rice landed the lone aces, later adding a single spike.
Tori Van Wingerden, whom the team has come to depend on for sets, dished up 10 on the night.
Chelsey Jones and Jessica Schrotenboer hugged the net for five kills each. In addition, Jones added a block and four digs while Schrotenboer had four digs. Rayann Van Beek added two digs and Katie Schneider make an additional five diving plays. Heather Van Wingerden blocked two of Riverside's spike attempts, while landing two kills of her own.
The Lady Knights (2-3, 2-5) will travel to Klickitat Friday night for league action.
