Three arrested on burglary charges

A 20-year-old Sunnyside man and two local teenagers were arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the burglary of a home in the 700 block of Crescent Avenue.

Yesterday, shortly after noon, Sunnyside Police Officer Nena Trevino, while on patrol, became suspicious when she spotted the three males at a home in the 100 block of West Grandview Avenue. After making contact with them and upon further investigation she found burglary tools (gloves and a large screwdriver), as well as jewelry and other items on the three individuals.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the items she confiscated from the three suspects had been taken earlier in the day in a burglary of a home in the 700 block of Crescent Avenue.

The 20-year-old man, Josh Rodriguez of Sunnyside, was arrested and transported to Yakima County jail. Local police are seeking charges of residential burglary, possesion of a dangerous weapon and possession of burglary tools. The two teens, ages 15 and 16, were sent to the county's detention center, where they are expected to be charged with residential burglary and possessing burglary tools.
