Bridge club members honored


A special bridge party was held when the members of the American Contract Bridge League met at Banner Bank in Sunnyside on Sunday, March 20.

Awards, called the Ace of Clubs, were presented to those who had the most number of points this year in their category. Taking awards home were: Dudley Brown, Diamond Life Master; Constance Querin, Silver Life Master; Hassan Mojtahedi, Bronze Life Master; Marie Noon, NABC Master; Leonard McGrath, Regional Master; Joyce Carter and James Flint, Sectional Masters; James Lyall, Club Master; C. Dale Bailey, Junior Master; and Olaf and Helen Elze, Rookies of the Year.

Vivian Martin and Nancy Gorham were in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, March 3:

Corky Greenfield and Marjorie Gilmore were first in A and B. There was a three-way tie for second between Masayuki Hashimoto/Joe Kraus, Hsu-Jen Yang/Richard Maison and Dudley Brown/Marg Pugh. Yang and Maison were also second in B. Dorothy Aiken and Alan Franklin were third in B.

Monday, March 7:

Tied for first/second in A were: Dudley Brown/Alan Franklin and Hassan Mojtahedi/Nancy Gorham; Vivian Martin and Peter Thomas were third in A. Tied for fourth/fifth in A and first/second in B were Dorothy Aiken/Margaret Linehan and Betty Pearce/Paul Burma. Judy Chester and Joyce Carter were third in B.

Thursday, March 10:

Leroy Cain and Jo Kraus, first in A; Audrey Pfluger and Marg Pugh, second in A; Leonard McGrath and Alan Franklin, third in A, first in B; James Lyall and Marvella Grady, second in B.
