MABTON - A broken water main line near the Mabton High School football field concession stand was the cause of Mabton High School students being sent home early yesterday (Tuesday).
The broken pipe located on the school property resulted in the city shutting off water to Northwest Horticulture, located in south Mabton across State Route 22. A few residents' water supply near the high school was also temporarily shut off while repairs were made, said Ildia Jackson, Mabton City administrator.
Jackson said city crews and school district staff worked through the afternoon to complete repairs.
School was back in regular session today (Wednesday), according to a school employee.
