Car stolen when owner turns his back

A Lower Valley man's car was stolen Tuesday afternoon when he ran inside the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District office to make an irrigation payment.

The man reported his 1987 blue Toyota Camry stolen just before 1 p.m. He told officers that he left the keys in the ignition of the vehicle.

Police are also looking into a theft from the 1600 block of Yakima Valley Highway. The theft was reported Tuesday evening. Items taken have not yet been listed in the police report.

An attempted vehicle prowl was also reported in the 100 block of Parkland Drive. The owner of the vehicle saw two men attempt to break into his car just before 4 a.m. this morning (Wednesday). The suspects left the scene in a maroon Nissan Sentra.
