Brown cards lowest net score of field at PGA pro-am invite

KENNEWICK - Mac Brown, a member of the Sunnyside Black Rock Creek Golf Course team, turned in the lowest net score at this past Monday's PGA pro-am tournament staged at Kennewick's Canyon Lakes Golf Course.

A total of 205 professional and amateur golfers competed at the one-day tourney, hosted by the Central Washington chapter of the PGA.

Brown carded a handicap-aided net 67, five strokes below his scoring average. That earned him first place honors among amateur division #3 golfers.

Black Rock Creek's Derek Wood also cashed Monday. Wood, competing in amateur division #2, tied for third place honors in the net column. He shot a handicap-aided 74. The low net round in his flight was a 69.

Jeff Bender, Black Rock Creek's club pro, tied for sixth place honors this past Monday in the tournament's professional division. He toured the par-72 course with a 3-over 75. The low professional round was a 2-under 70, claimed by Walla Walla Country Club's Todd Gaines.

The low amateur round posted Monday was a 2-over 74, shot by Meadow Springs Country Club's Jim Ostrander.
