Rape charges filed

Two Prosser brothers were arrested Wednesday for their alleged connection with a rape that occurred earlier this month.

Sunnyside Police Officer Melissa Rodriguez has been investigating the incident since it was reported April 6.

According to Deputy Chief Phil Schenck of the Sunnyside Police Department, the 20-year-old victim, who is a Grandview resident, was at a friend's house in the 1200 block of Decatur Avenue when the alleged incident occurred.

Schenck said the Prosser men, ages 33 and 26, were also invited to the house. Schenck said the older brother is believed to have sexually assaulted the woman. The younger is being charged with aiding and abetting in the rape, he said.

"The suspects were drinking and at one point the victim was left alone with (the older brother)," said Schenck.

While the two were left alone, he reportedly sexually assaulted her. No weapon was used in the rape.

The 33-year-old man is being charged with rape 3 and his 26-year-old brother with rape 3 aiding and abetting.

They will face charges in Yakima County Superior Court.
