Yesterday, a suspected car thief from Grandview hit two mile-stones. He turned 18 and he was arrested for allegedly stealing a white, 1987 Mercury Cougar.
The vehicle was taken from the 400 block of Rouse Road early Sunday morning, according to Sunnyside Police Officer Oliver Hernandez.
The vehicle was reported stolen Sunday morning and later that afternoon the victim's brother reported that he had spotted the car near Valley View Market, pulling into the Parkland Homes development. The suspect who was arrested by police was seen driving the car.
Police arrived at the residence and found that the suspect had altered the car, removing the spoiler in attempts to keep it hidden. They arrested the suspect, who had keys in his pocket that were not the owners, but would start the vehicle that was stolen.
Charges are still pending, but he will be charged as an adult.
