Van Wingerdens, Anderson, Whitaker win Black Rock scramble

The foursome of Mike and John Van Wingerden, Gunnar Anderson and Bill Whitaker captured top honors at this past Saturday's annual Black Rock Creek Golf Course four-person scramble.

The Van Wingerdens, Anderson and Whitaker carded an 11-under 61.

Two strokes back in second place, with a 9-under 63, was the squad of Gary Hutchins, Kevin McKay, Louis Alcala and Doug Burge.

Tying for third place honors, with identical 7-under 65's, were the teams of Carol and Troy Monholland and Donna and Ron Kroger; and Chuck Garner, Ron Van Gundy, Brian Kler and Paul Dempsey.

The lowest scoring team in the net division (actual score minus handicap) was the foursome of Juan Guerrero, Balbino Benitez, Ray Pruneda and Don Cardenas. They shot a handicap-aided 56.35. In second place with a net 56.55 was the foursome of Tom Diener, Frank Durado, Verden Haddox and Mike Stegeman.

Flag event winners in Saturday's tournament included Matt Valett for longest putt on No. 1, Ron Van Gundy for closest to the pin on No. 9, Chuck Garner for closest to the pin on No. 12, Kevin McKay for longest drive on No. 13 and Balbino Benitez for closest to the pin on No. 17.
