Mabton school hosts family night

MABTON - The Mabton Artz-Fox Elementary School will host a family literacy night tonight (Friday), from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school library, according to Robert Morales, literacy night organizer.

Morales said demonstrations related to children's literacy are planned.

"We are holding the night in our library to give parents the feel of working in a library, as well as helping them to aid their children in reading at grade level," he explained.

"We will be providing additional Spanish language resources for monolingual families as part our outreach efforts," he said.

Morales said funds for the literacy outreach were provided through the Mabton School District's U.S. Department of Education library grant.

More family literacy nights are being planned in May, he added.
