Esquivel case referred to drug court

YAKIMA - A case pending against 19-year-old Teodomiro Esquivel Jr. has been forwarded to the Yakima County drug court.

Originally, the case was scheduled for an omnibus hearing Thursday, April 21, but the hearing did not occur. A trial date was originally scheduled for May 2.

According to the prosecutor handling the case, he can not discuss whether or not Esquivel's case was accepted by the drug court or any aspects of the case.

Esquivel was arrested by Sunnyside police March 9, after police detectives received tips that he was selling drugs from his home in the 400 block of West Madison Avenue.

Police found more than 85 grams of marijuana, digital scales, cash and packaging materials in his home.
