Maxine L. Butler, 77, of Mabton died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

She was born Aug. 6, 1927 in Farlington, Kan., the daughter of Nancy (Crantrell) and Edmond F. Clayton. At an early age, she with her family moved to the Yakima Valley, where she received her early education. On Dec. 8, 1951 Maxine and Clifford Butler were married in Sunnyside.

Maxine loved to go shopping, yard sales and taking trips with her sisters.

Maxine was an avid collector of knickknacks and jewelry.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Clifford of Mabton; one daughter, Darla Hernandez and husband, Sergio, of Mabton; one son, Randy Butler of Grandview; one granddaughter, Amanda Hernandez of Mabton; and two sisters, Eunice Workman of West Linn, Ore. and Helen Crandall of Tacoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank “Junior” Clayton and Robert “Bob” Clayton; and three sisters, Beverly “Jean” Forbus, Pauline Masovero and Betty May Willy.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 1l a.m. at Zillah Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
