OTHELLO - It was the Grandview High School jumpers that made an impression on the Othello Huskies at Thursday's track meet. Although all of the results are not yet in, Grandview Coach Jared Lind said he knew the Greyhound boys team won by a score of 100-42.
The Greyhounds swept the long jump event with Grandview's James Vela taking first place honors with an 18-4 effort, according to Lind.
Noel Hinojosa took home second place honors in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.
The Grandview boys won the 4x100 event in a time of 45.7 and the 4x400 in a clocking of 3:35.
"There wasn't any competition in the 4x400," said Lind. "They won by 300 yards."
The final results are not in for the girl team, but Lind said the small cluster of girls who competed did well.
"We had a small group there," he said. "We have several who are injured."
One of those injured is distance runner Britnee Sanchez.
Grandview jumper Tonhya Wysong placed second in the long jump event and Kealey Johnston brought home second place honors in the triple jump.
Greyhound runner Kara Stanton placed second in the 300-hurdles, as did runners in the 4x200, 4x100 and 4x400 events.
