Fire destroys Grandview Pavement home

MABTON - Very few details were available this morning about a fire that destroyed a home in 2600 block of Grandview Pavement Road in Mabton late Wednesday night.

A total of 22 fire personnel from Yakima County Fire District #5 stations in Sunnyside, Grandview and Mabton received helped from the Prosser Fire Department to fight the fire.

Upon arrival at 11 p.m. Wednesday night, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed. All the occupants in the relatively newly built home were ushered out of the residence following the smell of smoke. Reports from Yakima County Fire District #5 said no one was injured in the fire.

The home was considered a total loss. It was valued at $220,000.

Yakima County Fire District #5 officials didn't know the immediate cause of the fire, which is being investigated by the county fire marshal.
