Father-son duo win 'Triple Threat' tourney

At times, they're unbeatable. And last Saturday, they were just that.

Competing in the 2005 Triple Threat at Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek Golf Course, the father-son duo of Bud and Ty Schatz won top honors. The pair ham-and-egged their way around the 18-hole course with a 7-under-par 65.

The first six holes of play were a best ball format. Holes 7 through 12 the field played a Chapman/Scotch ball game, and the final six holes were a scramble.

The Schatzes edged the runners-up, Andrew Schutt and Justin Bos, by a single stroke. Carding a 4-under-par 68 for third place honors were Gary Hutchins and Louis Alcala.

On the net side of things (actual score minus handicap), the pair of Dave Grow and Jim Gaulley claimed first place honors. They netted a 58.60. Second place net finishers were Jim Winklebauer and Tom Tomasino with a 61.85. Placing third were Dave Wilson and Dave Wells with a 65.10.
