Dairy competition results in from Grandview fair

GRANDVIEW - The winners have been announced from this year's dairy competitions at the Yakima Valley Fair & Rodeo.

In the dairy judging contest, Olivia Peters won first place honors among FFA competitors. The 4-H senior, intermediate and junior division first place winners, respectively, were Corrin Veiga, Darcy Morford and Maddie Morford.

In the FFA fitting and showing dairy competition, Desiree Pritchett of the Sunnyside FFA chapter won top honors. The second place finisher was Amy Mensonides of the Sunnyside Christian FFA chapter.

The FFA grand champion Holstein was shown by Mensonides. Pritchett showed the championship cow in the "other breed female" category.

Winners in the 4-H fitting and showing competition were Sabrina Mensonides of the Green Valley 4-H club, novice showman; Leah Bosma of the Sunnyside Herd & Home 4-H chapter, intermediate showman; and Veiga of the Green Valley 4-H chapter, senior showman.

The 4-Hers with the top dairy cows included Melissa Groth for her champion Brown Swiss and her grand champion Holstein, Julie Wedam for her junior champion Holstein, Veiga for her reserve junior champion Holstein, and J.J. Wood for his junior champion Jersey.
