Dorothy Ann Dolan

Dorothy Ann Dolan, 84, a lifetime Sunnyside resident, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at her home.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 3, 1920 in Sunnyside, the daughter of John and Catherine (Geis) Heberlein. Dorothy graduated from Sunnyside High School with the class of 1938. On Sept. 27, 1940, she married Lawrence Dolan in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in various parts of Washington, California and Idaho.

In 1952, the family returned to Sunnyside. Dorothy worked for Hickenbottom and Sons for 50 years, retiring at the age of 79. Dorothy was a past member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and was involved in Blue Birds. She enjoyed reading, soap operas, especially "As The World Turns", watching sports, football and basketball. She loved shopping, mainly for shoes, going to lunch with her friends, listening to her scanner and spending time with her canine companion, Tyree. Dorothy cherished time she spent with her family.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Larry Dolan and wife, Barbara, of Sunnyside. Three daughters, Carole Sprenkle and husband, Paul, of Clovis, Calif.; Vicki Maling and husband, Garry, of Sunnyside; Karla Reynolds and husband, Tom, of Burbank; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with one expected in October and one great-great grandchild. Two sisters, Ester Angela of Yakima, WA and Elsie Roettele of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence, in 1995; five brothers, John, Henry, Reinhold, Edward and Arthur; and one sister, Lillian Gilson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.

Those wishing to honor Dorothy's memory may contribute to the Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department.
