Minnesota woman seek whereabouts of family in Sunnyside

Eddica Castaneda of Saint James, Minn. knows she has family ties to the Yakima Valley, although where those relatives live is a mystery to her.

"I was given up for adoption at birth," said the woman who now is seeking help in finding her biological mother and other members of her family.

"I grew up in Texas and have lived in Minnesota for the past several years," she explained.

"I know my biological mother's name is Olivia Navarro and I now she has tried to locate me," she added.

Castaneda did meet an older brother, Orlando Medina, and his family about three years go. "For a time we were in steady contact with each other," Castaneda said.

"But I haven't heard from him in quite some time," she added.

Castaneda said she believes she also has two older brothers named Frankie and Rafael, in addition to Orlando. She said she may also have three sisters by the names of Daisy, Elsie and Alma and perhaps another brother, Sergio.

"But I don't know these people," she said.

Castaneda, who is now a customer service representative for a Minnesota publishing company, has five children of her own, and wants them to get acquainted with their extended family.

"It was a privilege to have even a brief contact with my brother," she said.

"I miss him, even though we only got to visit for a few weeks. It hurt to lose contact with him. Now I would like him or other members of my family to contact me if they can," Castaneda urged.

"I understood from Orlando that my mother lives in Sunnyside and that she might be in poor health," she added.

"My adopted mother died in a car crash 10 years ago, so it is very important to me to meet my biological mother," she explained.

Castaneda said she has mixed feelings about finding out more about her family. "But the over riding feeling is that I want to know more about my relatives," she said.

"I know my family knows that I exist. Orlando told me they think about me every day," she added.

Castaneda said she doesn't know the circumstances surrounding her adoption and her brother wasn't able to shed any light on the mystery.

"I just know she (my mother) has tried looking for me," Castaneda added.

A while back Castaneda tried to contact her brother Frankie. "But I got a wrong telephone number and ended up talking to the wrong man," she said.

"I just want to meet everyone," Castaneda added.

"I'm hoping anyone who knows anything about Olivia Navarro's family will contact me and help me get in touch with them," she added.

Anyone with any information is asked to call her at (507) 236-8658 or (507) 375-3042. She said people can also write her at 217 7th Ave. S., Saint James, Minn., 56081.
