Green Valley 4-H award winners at fair

Award winners from the Green Valley 4-H club are (L-R) David Bonny, Ike Bonny, Kevin Munck, Julie Wedam, Corrin Veiga and Sabrina Mensonides.

GRANDVIEW - The Green Valley 4-H Club brought home several awards from the Yakima Valley Fair & Rodeo, held in Grandview during the second week of August.

Club awards included first-place in the Rabbit, Sheep, Dairy and Beef categories. A second-place award was earned in Swine.

Individual awards included:

Swine - David Bonny (senior fitting & showing); Vernon Bos outstanding exhibitor award); Ike Bonny (best of show, outstanding exhibitor award), Logan Jones (market hog, fitting & showing); Emily Jones (market hog, senior fitting & showing); Leslie Jones (market hog, fitting & showing) and Kevin Munck (gold medalist novice showman).

Sheep - Megan Lamb (market lamb, junior fitting & showing, breeding stock ewe lamb class) and Jenna Van Beek (market lamb, senior fitting & showing).

Rabbit - Julie Wedam (market lamb, senior fitting & showing) and Kristen Wedam (intermediate silver medalist showman).

Beef - Larelle Michener (market classification, senior fitting & showing); Jase Michener (classification, fitting & showing); Brian Michener (classification, fitting & showing) and Michelle Munck (fitting & showing, intermediate silver medalist).

Dairy - Sabrina Mensonides (gold medalist novice showman, classification yearling heifer); Corrin Veiga (senior fitting & showing, reserve champion heifer, high point senior in dairy judging); Julie Wedam (grand champion Holstein heifer, reserve champion Holstein female, senior fitting & showing); Kristen Wedam (intermediate third place) and Kristyn Mensonides (intermediate fitting & showing).

Green Valley 4-H members also won individual awards in categories such as photography, baking, fine arts and charcoal drawing.
