WAPATO - The Grandview girls basketball team traveled to Wapato on Saturday, losing to the Wolves 76-56.
"Wapato came out firing," Grandview Coach Adolofo Hinojosa said. "They shot 55 percent from the field and we only shot 25 percent. It was like everything they shot went in."
After one quarter it was 25-12 and the Greyhounds switched to man to man. "They had a hard time with our man to man defense," Hinojosa said.
Still, the Wolves held a 44-30 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter the Greyhounds started to make a run at the deficit but couldn't get out of the hole they dug for themselves in the first quarter. In the fourth the Lady Greyhounds missed some opportunities and the Wolves didn't.
"It shows our youth," Hinojosa said. "This is a learning curve for our players. I'm looking forward to good things from our younger players."
Danica Rodriguez scored 16 points. Marisol Hinojosa and Cristina Meza each added 11 for Grandview.
Grandview travels to Prosser tomorrow (Tuesday) to take on the Mustangs.
