‘Financial peace’ workshop to be presented in S'side

Statistics show that 70 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and that 37 percent of marital problems stem from unresolved financial situations.

Sunnyside Church of God members want to help provide "financial peace."

"You don't have to dread the new year...instead you can look forward to financial freedom," said Karen Helsel, church pastor, in explaining a Financial Peace University program the church will sponsor in mid-January 2006.

She explained that Financial Peace University is a life-changing, 13-week program on personal finance.

"It is designed to empower people to manage their money better, eliminate debt and build financial security," Helsel said. "All materials are Biblically based and taught via entertaining video by Dave Ramsey."

The first of two orientation sessions was held this past Wednesday. A second orientation session for those interested in participating in the 13-week program will be held next Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Sunnyside Church of God (344 N. 11th St.) from 7 to 8 p.m. Sign-up information is available by calling 837-2435 or 837-7543.
