Four burglaries and a theft took place in Sunnyside in a 12-hour period yesterday (Monday).
The first burglary was reported at 10:40 a.m. by the owner of a business in the 100 block of North 16th Street, who found his business burglarized when he went to work. Entry may have been through a roll-up door at the back of the building. No report was available on what was taken.
At 5:25 p.m. a resident reported his home in the 400 block of Woods Road had been broken into. He discovered the burglary when he returned home.
At 8:07 p.m. police received a report that a window had been broken out of a residence in the 1500 block of East Irving Avenue. No further details were available.
Numerous items were taken from a home in the 1200 block of Sage Court. Entry was gained to the home by breaking a window.
Another burglary was averted when a woman called police when she discovered two men trying to break into her home through a bedroom window. That report was received at 8:40 p.m. The residence is located in the 100 block of South 16th Street.
A half a rack of Budweiser beer was stolen from a business in the 1500 block of Yakima Valley Highway. The theft was reported to police at 11:38 p.m. The store clerk was able to give police a description and partial license plate number of the blue Neon in which the suspects drove away.
