GRANDVIEW - Grandview City firefighters quickly knocked down a fire in a room at the Red Apple Motel in Grandview yesterday (Tuesday). Their speedy, four-minute response time to the 2:04 p.m. call helped confine the blaze to the one room in which the fire started.
Responding to a report of smoke in the ceiling of one room, the first unit on the scene found a fire in the ceiling of Room 19. Quickly brought under control, the fire appeared to have started in a ceiling heating unit, according to Deputy Chief Dave Smith.
Damage to that room is estimated at $15,000. The rest of the motel was undamaged, and firefighters were able to return the building to the control of the owner.
Five Grandview firefighters helped fight the blaze at the motel, which is located at 903 West Wine Country Road.
