EAST WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee High School girls bowling team roared to a 4-0 sweep over the Sunnyside Lady Grizzlies Tuesday afternoon at Eastmont Lanes.
Sara Hewitt led the charge for Wenatchee on games of 216-188. The four other Wenatchee bowlers all topped the 300 mark in their two-game series.
None of the Lady Grizzlies reached the 300 plateau. Junior Veronica Uribe had the top effort for Sunnyside, rolling games of 151-134.
Also competing for Sunnyside were Maribel Rodriguez (137-132), Tiara Moon (96-142), Veronica Tlatelpa (118-115) and Veronica Alvarez (113-102).
Wenatchee was victorious in the two head-to-head match-ups, winning by scores of 847-615 and 876-625. In the two Baker games, where each member of the five-girl squads alternate taking turns throughout the 10 frames, Wenatchee prevailed 161-124 and 194-116.
For the Sunnyside girls, yesterday's loss was its 10th of the season in as many outings.
The Lady Grizzlies are scheduled to host Pasco at Sunnyside's Valley Lanes this Thursday.
In JV action Tuesday afternoon, Wenatchee also won by a 4-0 score. Kayla Coder had the top performance for Sunnyside, rolling games of 138-165. Also competing for Sunnyside's JV were Vanessa Roman (126-119), Jennifer Tobin (129-105), Challea Bussert (103-125) and Alma Romero (115-73).
