Mabton likely to become 1A for athletics
MABTON - The Mabton School Board accepted enrollment numbers Tuesday that will likely move the school up from the B classification to 1A.
High school Athletic Director Denny Brown told the board the WIAA's new classification enrollment numbers will make Mabton one of the smallest 1A schools in the state.
Brown said being a 1A school will significantly cut down on travel costs for the district because being in a 1A league will put opponents closer.
The new classification system splits the B classification into 1B and 2B to more evenly distribute schools among the classifications.
Mabton educators to travel for conferences

A parent, along with teachers from Artz-Fox will travel with Weddle to her conference.
