Police busy yesterday with assistance, burglary, theft

Vacationing Sunnysiders had their home in the 1500 block of East North Avenue broken into. The burglary was reported at 12:28 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) by a relative who had been checking on the residence. No information was available as to what was taken in the burglary.

At 4:17 p.m. yesterday police received a report that multiple checks owned by a Sunnyside man were being cashed by someone else.

The police also fielded two morning calls on Wednesday from Sunnyside Community Hospital.

The first call at 10:18 a.m. involved a man who was protesting being unable to receive information about a patient and refusing to leave the hospital when asked. Officers explained to him why certain information could not be released, and he was evicted from the hospital as a tresspasser.

In the second call, at 10:46 a.m., officers were asked to check with a patient, who had a small, five-shot, 22.caliber gun and a pocket knife on his person when he arrived at the hospital for treatment of a hip he had broken in a fall. The patient requested that the items be turned over to a friend, which police officers agreed to do.
