The two roommates of a 27-year-old man, who was killed at a Sunnyside rental home at 1713 Guernsey Street yesterday (Thursday) morning, are being sought as witnesses, according to Det. Sgt. Jeff Cunningham of the Sunnyside Police Department.
"The detectives are seeking two others that live at that residence, Jose Campos-Cortez, age 22, and Laura Fabiola Ascensio-Munguia, age 20," Cunningham noted in a news release. It is believed Munguia's daughter, Laura C. Perez, 2, is with the couple.
"Detectives are considering them as possible witnesses to the incident, and are requesting that anyone knowing of their whereabouts contact the Sunnyside Police Department," said Cunningham.
An unofficial source has identified the victim, an Hispanic male, as Francisco Caballero.
Sunnyside police were alerted to the killing at 4:01 a.m. yesterday when a report of gunshots was called in to the police station. When the officers arrived, they found a man lying dead in an open doorway of the home at the corner of Guernsey Street and South Hill Road. A witness reported seeing a green Navigator leaving the area.
In their search of the crime scene, which was still ongoing yesterday five hours after the crime, weapons and narcotics were discovered in the home and shell casings on the driveway and in the yard.
