Margarita Yanez, 94, of Sunnyside, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at her home with her family by her side.

Margarita was born Feb. 22, 1911 in Toluca, Texas. In 1943 she married Domingo Yanez. They moved to Outlook in 1948 and have resided in Sunnyside since 1955.

Margarita was known to her family and friends as "Mague", but was "Grandma" to everyone she met. Her entire life's work was as matriarch of a family who will love and miss her forever.

She is survived by her son, Jose G. "Lupe" Guzman and wife, Maria "Chela", of Sunnyside; one daughter, Alice Villanueva and husband, Jesse, of Yakima; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Petra Guzman; her 10 siblings; her husband, Domingo Yanez; her daughter, Elida Yanez; and grandson, Jose Angel Villanueva.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside, with burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
