$1.4 million to aid people paying their energy bills
U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt has announced that an additional $1,422,355 in emergency funds will be provided to Washington state residents to help low income families pay their heating bills.
"The Bush Administration is making sure low income families in Washington have the assistance they need to stay warm this winter," said Leavitt.
Each year the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps more than 4.5 million low income families pay the costs of heating their homes during the winter. Those interested in applying for the funds should go online to: www.acf.dhhs.gov/pro-grams/liheap/directry.htm.
