Late last week and over the weekend several Sunnyside businesses and cars were the target of thieves.
A business in the 500 block of Yakima Valley Highway reported a mail theft, and Commercial Tires in the 300 block of Yakima Valley Highway reported that a portion of their fencing was cut and between 16 and 20 tires were stolen.
Besides businesses, numerous vehicles were broken into.
A vehicle parked in the 700 block of East Franklin Avenue was broken into, according to police records. A stereo was taken and the air conditioning and heater console area was damaged. A vehicle parked in the 1400 block of East Gregory Avenue was also broken into late last week. The thieves got away with a car stereo. A vehicle parked in the 1000 block of East Decatur Avenue was also the target of car prowlers. Also, a vehicle parked near the back door of JC Penney was broken into late last week.
A resident in the 1200 block of East Decatur Avenue reported chasing away a vehicle prowler whom he caught sitting in his car. Police were unable to find the suspect.
Also, a car in the 100 block of Merrick Avenue was burglarized and damaged.
