To say Chuck Curtiss is in a groove right now is a major understatement.
Curtiss topped off a great week of league bowling at Sunnyside's Valley Lanes last Thursday by rolling an 834 three-game series. It is the high mark of the 2004-05 season for all league bowlers in the Yakima Valley.
The right-hander opened the week by shooting a 757 in Lower Valley Scratch League play on Monday, Jan. 24. His games were 279-266-212. He finished up the five-game set with games of 212-194.
In Superbowl League play on Wednesday, Jan. 26, Curtiss posted a 618 three-game series on games of 180-223-215.
Saving his best for last, Curtiss rolled an 834 in Commercial League play on Thursday, Jan. 27. He opened with a 268, improved to a 277 in the second game and finished with a 289. He opened the third game with 10 consecutive strikes, but left the 7-pin off a solid shot to the pocket in the 11th frame. He closed with a strike in the 12th frame.
