JV Lady Knights claim another win

GRANDVIEW - Jacqui Roberts, Brittany denHoed and Emma Newhouse each knocked down 13 points last night to lead the Sunnyside Christian High School JV girls basketball team to a 51-21 win over the Grandview 'C' squad.

The victory boosted the JV Lady Knights' record to 13-0.

Sunnyside Christian limited the Greyhounds to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters.

"We pressed them early and it took them out of their offense," said Sunnyside Christian JV Coach Steve Martin.

Besides Roberts, denHoed and Newhouse scoring in double figures, Chelsea Jones added 11 points for the winners.

spring baseball sign-ups on tap

Youngsters 7 to 12 years of age are being encouraged to sign up next week for Cal Ripken spring baseball league play in Sunnyside.

The first of two sign-up sessions will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Chief Kamiakin Elementary School cafeteria, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A second registration session is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the same site and same time.

Cal Ripken league play is open to both boys and girls. League play will begin the end of March and run through the end of May.
